Earlier this week, it was reported that Eddie Lacy of the Green Bay Packers will have to undergo surgery after suffering what could be a season-ending injury. But aside from his condition, another factor that could threaten his career with the team is his weight.

Lacy suffered an ankle injury at Week 6 when the Packers took on the Dallas Cowboys. Aside from missing this week's game against the Chicago Bears, Lacy might not be able to return with the rest of the team for the entire season due to his current condition. Playing in his place is Don Jackson.

If Lacy fails to recover soon, he will most likely end up on injured reserve. Although this could already be bad enough for his professional football career, he also has a problem with his current weight.

Before the 2016 NFL season started, Lacy spend the season trimming around 30 pounds during the offseason. However, after six weeks into the season, he gained all of the weight that he lost and is now weighing somewhere around 260 pounds.

Although this weight did not prevent him from playing properly during the previous games, coach Mike McCarthy noted that it has become a problem.

"I'm not going to get into guy's weights," he said. "I mean, I've never been asked a question about a guy's weight. But I think players do get bigger in their career. But he's bigger than he was as a rookie."

"He's got a lot of work to do," he added. "His offseason last year was not good enough and he never recovered from it. He cannot play at the weight he played at this year."

Based on McCarthy's statement, it seems Lacy needs to seriously regain his offseason if he wants to continue playing with the Packers. However, given his current condition and lack of mobility due to his ankle injury, he might have a hard time workout out to shed his unwanted pounds.

If he fails to lose weight by the time he gets the clearance to play again, he could end up getting released from the team.
