NFL Rumors: Houston Texans Looking to Part Ways with Brock Osweiler after Becoming a $72 Million Disappointment

The Houston Texans suffered another loss at Week 5 at the hands of the Minnesota Vikings. Given how Brock Osweiler performed during the game, it seems the Texans are already considering replacing him with Tom Savage.

During the offseason, the Houston franchise made a very gutsy move by offering Osweiler a four-year deal worth $72 million. The team didn't even meet face-to-face with the quarterback before signing him. Instead, it decided to act quickly by snatching him from his former team the Denver Broncos shortly after they won the Super Bowl.

Since then, the former backup quarterback has been thrusted into a starting position for the 2016 NFL season. But, as the season rolled by, the Texans are starting to believe that they had just made a huge mistake with Osweiler.

Although the team currently has three victories under their belt, these weren't as big as the Texans had hoped them to be. In many of these wins, the team was only able to edge out their opponents by a couple of points.

Their first loss at Week 3, which was delivered by the New England Patriots, left the Texans completely scoreless throughout the game. Now that they have suffered another loss, it seems the team is already considering making a huge change to its quarterback lineup.

Team officials are starting to believe that Osweiler might not be the man to lead them to the championship this year. Mid-way through the season, they could make a drastic decision and push back Osweiler to the No. 2 spot and replace him with Savage as the team's main passer.

Although playing Savage might be good for the entire team, this will definitely create a huge blow to the organization. After all, the Texans paid over $70 million for one man, in the hopes that he could lead them to the finals.

Because of this, Osweiler could be looking at his first and last year with the Texans this season. If he continues to perform poorly, and if he gets outperformed by Savage in the next few games, he could find himself spending more time on the bench than on the field.

Also, given the fact that third-stringer Brandon Weeden is more experienced that Osweiler, the team could look to him as the new backup. This could leave Osweiler as an expendable, albeit expensive, member of the team next offseason.
