The San Francisco 49ers remain one of the most controversial teams in the NFL today. With still no starting quarterback declared to take over the leadership role in the former Jarryd Hayne squad, reports arise on the possibility of bringing another football star to compete against Colin Kaepernick and Blaine Gabbert. Chip Kelly, who has been known for his unconventional style such as his moves concerning Sam Bradford and DeMarco Murray in the Philadelphia Eagles roster, is said to be working on a Jared Goff trade this NFL offseason.

The No. 1 draft pick of the Los Angeles Rams and in the entire league has been reported to be making huge strides in training camp. Apart from impressing his coaches, experts point to his notable growth compared with rookies Paxton Lynch of the Denver Broncos and Sam Bradford of the Philadelphia Eagles. Moreover, the Los Angeles Rams are expected to consider Jared Goff for the starting role despite his lack of experience in pro football.

Meanwhile, Chip Kelly has yet to decide who he will be the starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers. In the Colin Kaepernick vs Blaine Gabbert competition, fans initially believed that the former Jacksonville Jaguars star would be bag the job. This belief stemmed from the contract holdout staged by Colin Kaepernick when the NFL offseason began. Moreover, the University of Missouri alum started for the San Francisco 49ers when the performance and injuries of Colin Kaepernick had the coaching staff of the then Jarryd Hayne squad decide to bench him throughout the 2015-16 NFL season.

However, it looks like Chip Kelly refuses to set in stone anything that has to do with the quarterback post. The former Philadelphia Eagles head coach, a widely known big fan of Colin Kaepernick, had been coy with his responses on whether the 28-year-old will be chosen over Blaine Gabbert. Even the rest of the San Francisco 49ers coaching staff are mum on the issue.

"I wouldn't say any one is ahead of the other right now," shared Curtis Modkins of the Colin Kaepernick vs Blaine Gabbert battle. The San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator added, "As we get into the preseason and we get to playing live games, those things will start happening, but right now I wouldn't say anyone is ahead of anybody.

Modkins further noted, "I just think they are both progressing like we want them to, and both have been really good."

This is where Jared Goff comes in. As per the usual Chip Kelly style, the idea of letting a rookie join the Colin Kaepernick vs Blaine Gabbert battle seems absurd especially in light of the level of skill both veteran quarterbacks displayed in the past.

However, the former Philadelphia Eagles head coach reportedly feels that the Los Angeles Rams draftee presents better potential than the current quarterback options in the San Francisco 49ers. At the moment though, no official comment has been given by any of the parties involved.

What do you think? Will the Colin Kaepernick vs Blaine Gabbert quarterback competition be more exciting with Jared Goff threatening to steal the show? Will the San Francisco 49ers be making a good move if they actually pursue the Los Angeles Rams rookie?
