NFL Rumors: Miami Dolphins’ Chris Culliver to Miss Entire Year, in Danger of Getting Waived

Ever since Chris Culliver joined the Miami Dolphins during the preseason, he has not played in one game with the team yet due to complications in his knee. Since the team believes he's not yet ready to play, there's a chance that he might miss out the entire year and even get waived from the roster.

Before joining the Dolphins, Culliver was with the Washington Redskins. However, during a practice game in November last year, he suffered a torn ACL and MCL. This prompted the team to place him on injured reserve and eventually released him earlier this year.

Then, in August, signed a one year contract with the Dolphins that's worth $3.57 million. However, ever since he joined the team, he has been on the unable to perform list due to the injuries he suffered during his time with the Redskins.

Earlier this week, he noted that he's now ready to make his official debut with the Miami squad.

"I'm doing everything," he said. "I'm ready to get activated. Ready to play. Ready to get some motion out there. That's where I'm at with it."

However, despite Culliver's determination to play, the Dolphins' defensive coordinator Vance Joseph noted that the team believes the cornerback is not yet ready to be activated.

Head coach Adam Gase noted that the organization will still continue analyzing Culliver's condition before he is given the clearance to play.
"We have time still," Gase said. "He understands that we don't have to make any decisions right now. We're just going to keep going through practice and seeing where he's at [and] see how he feels."

Neither Gase nor Joseph, however, provided a timeline for Culliver's return. This could mean that he might not be able to get transferred to the active roster this season.

If that happens, then his contract will most likely not get extended next year. Or, if he doesn't recover soon, then the team might just decide to waive him from the team before the season ends.

As for the rest of the Dolphins, they are currently on their bye week and are scheduled to face off against the New York Jets on Nov. 6.
