Stefon Diggs has been listed as questionable in the Thanksgiving Day game between the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions. That means that if he's unable to play, then his absence would certainly deal a huge blow to the Vikings offense.
According to NFL.com, Diggs is still nursing his knee injury. He also wasn't able to join the team during this week's practice sessions. Although he has been listed as questionable, which means there's still a chance that he will make an appearance on Thursday, he will most likely just watch the game from the sidelines.
This, of course, doesn't look good for the Vikings. Their current record of 6-4 is widely attributed to the wide receiver, who has now accumulated 67 catches for 747 yards this season, according to CBS Sports. So far, Diggs has been regarded as the leading receiver for the team this year.
Without him, the Vikings will most likely completing passes as they take on the defensive line of the Lions. It also doesn't help that even with Diggs in the roster, the Vikings were still ranked as the worst offensive team in terms of yards this season. They were even ranked behind more disappointing teams such as the San Francisco 49ers, Cleveland Browns and the Los Angeles Rams.
Due to his absence, the Vikings will have no other choice but to turn to his backup Adam Thielen. Despite being in the NFL since 2013, Thielen doesn't have enough starting experience to take on the Lions.
Although he saw enough action during the preseason games, the regular season is certainly a very different environment. But, if there's a glimmer of hope in the Vikings' current situation, it's that the team knows that Thielen can handle Diggs' spot.
If Thielen starts in the game against the Lions, then this would not be the first time that he served as the temporary starter for the Minnesota franchise. Earlier in the season, he replaced Diggs after the latter suffered a groin injury. While serving as temporary starter, Thielen was able to record career-highs of 13 receptions for 145 yards during the game against the Houston Texans. He also managed to secure his second touchdown of the season during the Vikings' Week 10 loss to the Washington Redskins.
