NFL Rumors: Philadelphia Eagles Carson Wentz Puts Sam Bradford to Shame; Rookie Better Than Ex Rams QB

NFL: 2016 NFL Draft

The Philadelphia Eagles are in the midst of rebuilding their roster. With the exit of Chip Kelly and DeMarco Murray from the NFL team, it is expected that there will be less drama by the next season. However, it looks like the rifts just moved to a different position. Reports are rife that the competition for the starting quarterback position is extremely stiff. Moreover, it looks like Sam Bradford is proving to be no match against rookie Carson Wentz.

The quarterback drama of the Philadelphia Eagles came at a time when a number of NFL stars were also holding out from their football teams. Hence, Sam Bradford joined the likes of Ryan Fitzpatrick who has yet to close the deal with the New York Jets and Colin Kaepernick who has been begging for a trade from the San Francisco 49ers since the offseason started. Unlike Mark Sanchez though who managed to move on to the Denver Broncos following the disastrous NFL year of the Philadelphia Eagles under Chip Kelly, Bradford is back with the team. To make matters worse, he might not even start next season.

The entry of Carson Wentz in the Philadelphia Eagles roster raised some eyebrows from Bradford's camp in terms of the future of the franchise. With a younger and more promising quarterback drafted, it becomes clear that the NFL team wants to build their group around the North Dakota star. Amid these claims, the Philadelphia Eagles insist that Bradford is their starting quarterback. The question is - for how long?

"It's still a competition," said Doug Pederson of the quarterback situation of the team. The Philadelphia Eagles head coach added, "Listen, I brought guys in here at all positions for competition. That's what makes you better. Iron sharpens iron. Don't misunderstand what we're saying. Competition at every position."

So far, the Philadelphia Eagles roster and coaching staff have been quite impressed with Wentz. Described as "very smart," his teammates share that the rookie can easily understand the playbook. In addition to his prowess in the gridiron, his physique gives him an advantage over the other athletes in the quarterback post.

"His aptitude is off the charts," said Frank Reich of Wentz. The Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator added, "I'm not sure I've been around a guy who has this high of an aptitude as him at this age. It's really, really good and then he has the work ethic to go along with it. But he also has a maturity and a class about him to understand his role and understand he's got to earn his stripes and he's doing that. And he's got a great attitude about it."

Given the positive feedback on Carson Wentz, do you think it is possible for him to displace Sam Bradford as the starting quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles? Or will the NFL team be better off with the more experienced former St Louis Rams star?
