NFL Rumors: Robert Griffin III Returns to Practice with Cleveland Browns, to be Activated Soon

On Wednesday, the Cleveland Browns officially activated Robert Griffin III from injured reserve to join the rest of the squad for practice. However, even though the quarterback is close to making his comeback, he will probably not join the Browns in the upcoming game against the New York Giants.

Griffin has not been with the Browns after suffering a shoulder injury during the team's Week 1 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Since then, the team has been rotating with Josh McCown and Cody Kessler as the squad's quarterback.

Unfortunately for the Browns, they haven't won a single game yet this season following Griffin's injury. But, with talks of the starting QB's return getting stronger, a lot of fans are hoping that Griffin will be able to turn the Browns' record around.

On Wednesday, Griffin officially exited injured reserve to join his teammates at practice. Although the quarterback was active, coach Hue Jackson noted that he will still be evaluated before returning to the field. This means he will still most likely be on the sidelines when Cleveland takes on the Giants on Sunday.

"He practiced and moved around, and we'll see how he feels," Jackson said according to NFL.com. "I think that's what's important. Obviously, he's not cleared medically for contact, so this is the first stages of this. So we still have some hurdles to jump and we'll go get them."

Based on Jackson's statements, it seems Griffin will not be the Browns' starting quarterback until mid to late December if he gets the necessary clearance to play. So, for now, the team will have to endure its struggling offense.

As for Griffin, he can't wait to get back on the field and show the fans and the Cleveland organization once again why he's the Browns' starting quarterback.
"I have the confidence in that," he said in a statement. "I can't speak for coach or anyone else, but they've expressed that to me. I still feel I can be the guy for this team, for this organization and I look forward to going out and proving it."
