The San Francisco 49ers might just be on the verge of losing their star quarterback. Reports earlier this season disclosed that Colin Kaepernick has been placed in the injured reserve list this NFL season. Hence, the San Francisco 49ers will be forced to rely on the team's backup quarterback. With these recent developments, the future of Kaepernick in the said NFL team is reportedly uncertain. Moreover, sources revealed that at least three football teams have already expressed interest in the ailing quarterback.

"Niners quarterback Colin Kaepernick has more than likely played his last down in San Francisco, and the situation surrounding his season-ending injury has left all sides frustrated," reported Ian Rapoport, an NFL media insider. He further shared, "The Niners put Kaepernick on injured reserve Saturday, a surprise move from a timing perspective. The circumstances for the injury ruffled some feathers and accelerated the divorce of the former franchise quarterback and the team he led to the Super Bowl."

According to reports, the injury of Kaepernick originated from the game the San Francisco 49ers played against the Green Bay Packers on October 4. Kaepernick noticed a pain on his non-throwing shoulder (left), but did not think much of the matter following the game. After the San Francisco 49ers' bye week, Kaepernick decided to report the left shoulder injury and have it examined. The examinations conducted by the medical experts revealed that Kaepernick will need surgery and rehab. The recovery period is pegged to be between four to six months. Hence, the star quarterback will no longer be able to participate this NFL season.

Adding fuel to the speculations regarding the potential departure of Kaepernick from the San Francisco 49ers is the non-committal comments of the team's executives.

"Right now is not the time to get into the particulars," said San Francisco 49ers General Manager Baalke, referring to Kaepernick's future in the NFL team, according to ESPN. He added, "Right now, he's no different than any other player that's been placed on IR. When that surgery takes place, then the rehab process, getting him ready for the offseason program's the next step.

Meanwhile, San Francisco 49ers running back Jarryd Hayne once again finds himself under the spotlight. Rumors have surfaced that his disappointing stint as part of the 53-man roster of the NFL team prompted his teammates to encourage his return to Australia. Others speculated that the running back's attempt at making it in the NFL proved his inability to excel in sports outside of rugby.

However, Hayne hit back on his detractors and slammed the rumors of his return to rugby. He said via the Sydney Morning Herald, "If I was going to go back [to Australia], I wouldn't have even come [to America]. Media back home is obviously just trying to make stories and use my name to make headlines. It's just foolish and only fools would believe that."

"My special team's coach told me, 'If I can come this far in five or six months, imagine how much further I'm going to go in 12 months.' That's definitely my mindset," Hayne added, referring to his demotion to practice squad earlier this NFL season. He went on to share, "For me, it was good to put everything in perspective. I've only been doing this for five to six months, and it's still new to me. They just want to give me that time to get it down pat. That's how I've taken it, really fine-tuning more than anything."
