NFL Rumors: Seattle Seahawks Assure Jimmy Graham Spot; Marshawn Lynch Trade In The Works

The Seattle Seahawks were initially pegged as Super Bowl contenders this year. With a devastating loss to the New England Patriots last year, the Russell Wilson squad was expected to rally together this NFL season. Supporters of the Kam Chancellor team expected a more explosive and intense football squad. However, it looks like the Seattle Seahawks are falling short of the expectations of their fans. Moreover, the injuries incurred by star athletes like Jimmy Graham and Marshawn Lynch are sidelining the team's Super Bowl dreams.

Graham had to undergo surgery for a torn patellar tendon. According to Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll, the tight end is on his way to recovery.

"I think he's upset about what happened, everyone would be, but he's at the point where I think he's ready to really attack this rehab," shared Luke Willson via an official press release from the NFL team. He added, "His spirits have kind of changed. I just kind of got that sense. He's going to make the best of the situation and again, probably come back stronger than ever. A guy who works as hard as he does, I've got a feeling he'll be back sooner, rather than later." Wilson will be taking over the post vacated by Graham this season.

With the injury of Graham, sports analysts now question the wisdom of Carroll's decision to sign the tight-end. The Seattle Seahawks acquired the star by sacrificing two-time Pro Bowl athlete Max Unger. Aside from that, the NFL team also gave the New Orleans Saints their first-round draft pick to have Graham in the squad.

"Oh, I love him on our team," shared Carroll via The News Tribune. The Seattle Seahawks head coach went on to share, "I love him. He's a terrific teammate. He brings character and personality to our team. He's a dynamic player. I can only see for really cool things to happen in our future. That is a great, long-term decision that we made. We are happy to have him. Miss the heck out of them."

Meanwhile, Lynch is currently out of the Seattle Seahawks locker room. Carroll disclosed that the running back is also nursing his injury. He shared, "He's left Philadelphia now so we'll see how it goes the next few weeks, how he comes around. It's so much to ask him to jump back after three weeks, I don't even know how we could think that way. So this is week three starting up so we'll see how it goes." Carroll further noted, "The doctor projected that he could get back pretty quickly. They fixed everything that was wrong and the doctor was very optimistic about his return."

Although the return of Lynch sounds imminent, some sports analysts believe that a trade involving the feisty running back is in the works. The rumors are rooted in the apparent disappointment of Lynch in the way quarterback Wilson is running the team. Given the position of Lynch, some supporters deem it more prudent for the Seattle Seahawks to simply have him leave the football team. That is, to avoid collision between the NFL team's two big stars.
