NFL Rumors: Teams that Would Benefit in Signing Former New England Patriots RB Knile Davis

Less than two weeks after the Green Bay Packers acquired Knile Davis from the Kansas City Chiefs, the team has decided to release him from the roster. Given the number of injured running backs lately, there are various teams that would greatly benefit from signing him.

Earlier this month, the Packers found themselves in need of a replacement running back after Eddie Lacy and James Starks were sidelined due to injuries. Luckily for the team, Davis was available for a trade since the Chiefs were apparently shopping him around.

In exchange for Davis, the Packers offered a conditional seventh round pick in 2018 to the Chiefs. However, after spending two games with the Packers, the team re-evaluated Davis' performance and ultimately decided to release him.

Due to his release, Davis is currently a free agent. But, it seems he won't stay available for long especially since there are numerous teams that are also in need of a running back.

This includes the Denver Broncos, which recently lost Devontae Booker to a shoulder injury during last Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers. Booker was initially brought in to serve as a replacement for C.J. Anderson, who was recently placed on injured reserve.

Now that the Denver franchise has lost two of its key running backs, the team is searching for someone who could take their place.

Another team that needs a new running back are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. During the team's recent game against the Oakland Raiders, Jacquizz Rodgers got hurt at the second half. His foot injury forced him to the sidelines for the rest of the game.

Given the nature of his injury, coach Dirk Koetter thinks Rodgers might miss out a couple of weeks.

"I don't think it's probably good," he said. "But I don't know for sure. It's something to do with his ankle."

Aside from Rodgers, the Buccaneers are also missing Doug Martin and Charles Sims.

The Dallas Cowboys, too, could be in line to sign Davis especially since there are new reports which state that Ezekiel Elliott might get suspended for at least 6 weeks. According to these reports, the NFL has conducted its investigation regarding the domestic abuse allegations made against Elliott by his former girlfriend.

Depending on the outcome of the investigation, the Dallas team might go through the rest the next few weeks without its star running back.
