According to new reports, Tom Coughlin might return to the Jacksonville Jaguars as their head coach next season. Given the way the Jaguars are playing this year, it wouldn't come as a surprise if he gets re-hired by the team to replace Gus Bradley.

Before becoming a head coach, Coughline spent his time as a wide receivers coach for various teams from 1984 to 1990. These included the Philadelphia Eagles, Breen Bay Packers and the New York Giants.

But, after his return to Boston College, he came back to the NFL as the head coach of the Jaguars from 1995 to 2002. During his time with the team, the Jaguars made four straight appearances at the playoffs and even played at the AFC Championship twice.

After leaving the team in 2002, he was signed by thw New York Giants two years later. He left the franchise in 2015 and was hired by the NFL as its senior advisor for the league's football operations department earlier this year.

Although Coughlin seems pretty happy with his current job, NFL insider Adam Schefter noted that he could return as the coach of the Jaguars next year. After all, he still has strong roots in Jacksonville. Aside from having a home there, this is where his charity is based.

In addition, replacing Bradley with Coughlin would significantly boost the team's performance next year. Currently, the Jaguars are facing five losses with only two wins. Not only will Coughlin be able to change this record next year but he'll also be able to excite the team's fan base with his return.

As for the 70-year-old former coach, he noted that he hasn't ruled out returning to coaching in the future. But right now, he's very happy with his new job with the NFL.

"Well, we'll see about that," he said about the prospect of coaching again. "One day at a time. I hope I can make an impact in the job that I'm in. That's why I'm in that position."

"It's different, obviously," he added. "I'm in the game. I'm very thankful for being involved in the game to the extent that I am... I have really enjoyed the work that I've done, as far as going in the command room and being there throughout all the Sunday games."
