Earlier this week, Cordy Glenn accepted the contract extension offer made to him by the Buffalo Bills. And, based on the details of his new contract, it seems Glenn is about to become the highest-paid offensive tackle in the NFL.

According to Yahoo! Sports, the new contract, which Glenn signed on Tuesday, is for five years and is worth $65 million. This includes $30 million for the first two seasons with the team and a guaranteed $36 million.

And, with a yearly salary of $13.6 million, that makes Glenn the most expensive offensive tackle in the league.

Some, however, might argue that he doesn't deserve to receive this kind of offers since Glenn has never made an appearance at a Pro Bowl event in his career in the NFL. Despite this, he is still widely known as one of the best offensive tackles in the league today. In fact, Pro Football Focus ranked him as the 10^th best offensive tackle and 5^th pass-blocking tackle last season, Bleacher Report noted.

Because of his credentials, the Bills probably didn't have a hard time deciding on giving him a contract extension. But aside from this, the team also gave him a franchise tag during the offseason.

For a team that doesn't have a very big cap space, the franchise tag and contract extension symbolizes the Bills' determination in keeping Glenn in its roster. These also how the team values him as a player. And, with these offers, it seems Buffalo is planning on holding on to Glenn for a long time.

Glenn began his professional career in the NFL in 2012 after being drafted by the Bills during the second round. During his first season with the team, Glenn started at left tackle and was able to immediately show what he can do for the team.

During the season opener against the New York Jets in 2012, he blocked for teammate and running back C.J. Spiller who was then able to make 169-yard rush.

Ever since he was drafted by the Bills, Glenn has been pretty consistent regarding his performance and conduct in the NFL.
