The Tennessee Titans will head down south to Florida to challenge the Jacksonville Jaguars at EverBank Field on Dec. 19. Viewers can watch the Thursday Night Football online via live stream - free for subscribers - below.
Although both AFC South teams have a 2-12 record, it may be worth watching because both of them have young talent that could be future stars in the NFL. The Associated Press reported that Blake Bortles remains the quarterback of the future for the Jaguars despite his poor rookie record.
"A lot of them are on me," Bortles said. "Some are on the offensive line. It's on the whole offense. It's football, so you better be used to getting hit."
Bortles was selected No. 3 overall in this year's draft and has thrown eight touchdowns and 15 interceptions over 11 starts. However, the Associated Press reported that he held the NFL's second-worst passer rating at 70.6 and has been sacked a league-high 41 times since Oct. 9.
"In college, you can run around and do more stuff, but in the NFL guys are a lot faster and stronger. So it's a little more difficult," Bortles said. "You want to be able to get rid of the ball and live another down, not lose 5, 10 yards on third down and create longer field-goal situation. Those are definitely things I'm working on."
However, Bortles will be playing on Thursday's game with a sports injury. According to the Associated Press, he suffered a sprained right foot in last Sunday's 20-12 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
"A couple more days and hopefully it will be fine," Bortles said Monday. "Doing all kinds of stuff, trying to get back and ready as quick as possible."
The Titans have also been plagued by sports injuries on their roster. The Associated Press noted that Jake Locker could be out for the season after dislocating his non-throwing shoulder, and rookie Zach Mettenberger also suffered a similar fate with a shoulder injury.
Despite missing a big chunk of the season, Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt thought that Locker was "a true pro."
"He's a great teammate, works hard and you obviously feel badly for Jake just from the standpoint of having to have surgery and his season being over," Whisenhunt said.
Whisenhunt has decided to rely on Charlie Whitehurst to carry the Titans to victory. After all, Whitehurst played a pivotal role in the 16-14 win over Jacksonville back on Oct. 12, finishing 17 of 28 for 233 yards according to the Associated Press.
"I feel good about Charlie and what he's done. ... He started against Jacksonville the last time and played a pretty good game," Whisenhunt said. "He's been a great support in the room, and we have confidence in him that when he plays he's going to be successful."
