NFL Updates: Gary Kubiak Not Coaching Denver Broncos On Thursday After Getting Hospitalized last Night

Gary Kubiak, the head coach of the Denver Broncos, announced that he's feeling much better now after being taken to the hospital following the Week 5 game against the Atlanta Falcons. However, as noted by team owner John Elway, Kubiak will not be able to join the Broncos as they head into Week 6 against the San Diego Chargers.

On Sunday, after the Broncos lost for the first time in the 2016 NFL season, Kubiak was taken to a nearby hospital. He was released on Monday after he was diagnosed with a complex migraine condition. Following his release, Elway announced that Kubiak will take a week off from his coaching duties to rest.

Taking over Kubiak responsibilities is Joe DeCamillis, the Broncos' special-teams coordinator. He will serve as the team's interim coach for Week 6.

"I'm feeling much better and am thankful for everyone's thoughts and well-wishes," Kubiak said in a statement. "It's tough not being there with our team this week, but I've got great confidence in Joe D, our coordinators and coaching staff, and all of our players."

"Greek and the medical team did an outstanding job taking care of me and getting this figured out," he added.

The incident last Sunday was not the first time Kubiak suffered a medical emergency during a game. Back in 2013, when he was still with the Houston Texans, the coach suffered a mini-stroke midway through a game against the Indianapolis Colts.

As noted by Kubiak, due to his existing health condition, he is taking better care of his body now and is making sure that he follows whatever doctors tell him to do. This includes sitting out Week 6 to rest.

"I've made a lot of positive changes health-wise in recent years and will continue to listen to doctors," he said. "I'll be at home this week, resting and getting healthy, and I look forward to rejoining our team Monday."

Hopefully, the upcoming game against the Chargers will be a breeze for the DeCamillis and the rest of the Broncos while Kubiak is still recuperating. For the game, the Denver franchise is expected to have quarterback Trevor Siemian at the starting post with Paxton Lynch as his backup.
