Nokia certainly looks every bit as serious as they can be when it comes to making a splash in the smartphone market after a hiatus. Forget about the bread-and-butter Nokia 150 feature phone, Android-powered handsets look set to be their goal in the future. First, the leak on the Nokia P earlier this month, alongside word of the Nokia D1C and Nokia C1, and then here we are with the Nokia Z2 Plus handset that was leaked over on Geekbench, carrying some pretty updated hardware specifications along that will surely allow it to compete in the deep end of the pool right from the get go.

The Nokia Z2 Plus Android smartphone will be powered by a Snapdragon 820 processor from Qualcomm, accompanied by 4GB of RAM as well as Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow in tow -- and so far, the leaked results do point to more than a decent level of performance in its single-core as well as multi-core tests. With 2017 touted to be the year where there will be more Nokia-branded smartphones that run on the Android platform which will arrive in the market to provide consumers with even more selection headache, things are surely getting more and more interesting.

Armed with a Snapdragon 820 processor, you can be quite sure that the Nokia Z2 Plus is not going to reside in the mid-range scheme of things. It might not be as powerful as the Nokia P which has been said to boast of a Snapdragon 835 processor as well as 6GB of RAM, but the Snapdragon 820 processor will still be able to get the job done for now and in the foreseeable future, and then some.

.After all, the Snapdragon 820 processor is nearly as powerful as the Snapdragon 821, where it has been the heart of other flagship handsets this year such as the Samsung Galaxy S7 and LG G5. As for the Snapdragon 835 processor, that will be in the heart and soul of many 2017 flagship models.

Geekbench listing results
So what kind of performance figures will the Nokia Z2 Plus come with? In the leaked Geekbench listing, it points to a score of 2,100 points where single-core benchmarking tests are concerned, while multi-core benchmarking tests racked up a score of 5,100, which are no doubt attributed to the kickin’ Snapdragon 820 processor.

With these upcoming Nokia handsets next year, you can be sure that HMD Global, which is the force behind the Nokia smartphones, are serious in their aspirations. After all, HMD purchased Nokia’s smartphone rights from Microsoft -- a “loan” that will last for a decade, so it does seem as though their efforts are about to start off on some pretty strong footing based on what we have seen so far.

Nokia sues Apple as well for patent infringement
In other news, Nokia has sued Apple for the violation of 32 technology patents, and these suits were filed in courts in Dusseldorf, Mannheim and Munich, Germany, as well as in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. The suit will encompass patents that concern displays, user interfaces, software, antennas, chipsets and video coding.

How will the results of the lawsuit affect the future of Nokia smartphones? It can be hard to tell, but it clearly underlines their intent in making a mark once again.
