Wide receiver Victor Cruz is expected to lead the New York Giants on Aug. 27 in their match against the New York Jets for Week 3 of the NFL preseason. The upcoming game will serve as Cruz's return to the NFL after suffering a season-ending injury in 2014.

During the Giants' regular season match against the Philadelphia Eagles in October of 2014, Cruz suffered a torn patellar tendon. The injury ended the season for him. Due to the seriousness of his conditions, fans and sports analysts wondered if he will ever be able to play in the NFL again.

Although he wasn't able to join the team for the 2015 season, Cruz's condition improved through rehabilitation programs. During a press conference on Thursday, Cruz stepped out in front of reporters to announce his return in the NFL.

Aside from confirming his comeback, the wide receiver also noted that he will play in the Giants' upcoming preseason game against the Jets.

"To me this game is bigger than just a game," he said according to the New York Daily News. "This one is crossing so many hurdles, so many barriers, so many ups and downs that I had to face to get to this moment. Now I'm just ready to relax and go play some football again."

For Saturday's game, Cruz will be playing alongside quarterback Eli Manning.

But aside from Cruz, the upcoming game will also serve as a major test for Ben McAdoo, who became the head coach of the Giants earlier this year. As noted by the New York Post, McAdoo will surely feel the pressure of guiding the Giants in a match against their long-time rivals, the Jets. In addition, he also has to prove that he has the coaching skills to lead the team.

"Ben McAdoo is in a position where he has to solidify his personality and mindset and fuse it with the team," former NFL safety and current SiriusXM analyst Solomon Wilcots said according to the news site.

"In what way will he put his stamp on this football team?" he added. "Ben McAdoo has some big shoes to fill, and the same people who wanted Tom Coughlin out will start missing him if things aren't dealt with correctly - and people will start to long for the days of Tom Coughlin.
