Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and Liam Payne are a quintet known worldwide as One Direction. The band was discovered by Simon Cowell on The X-Factor, and has produced a string of hits that top the charts in many nations. However, with this fame is always One Direction break up rumors. In a recent report from The Mirror, the five members of One Direction all headed to Los Angeles for world tour preparations this week, each of them on separate flights. Some have been saying that this kind of separate travel is raising some kind of break-up rumors, especially when the members of One Direction took five taxis to make a short journey around London's Earl's Court arena before they appeared at the BBC music awards about one month ago.

Liam has stated that the boys travel separately because of security reasons, as no one can target one car. Each one of the members from One Direction sleep in different hotels in the same city, and this is also probably done for security reasons.

One Direction has always been plagued with breakup rumors. One of the most recent was back in November last year, when it was thought that Zayn Malik was quitting, but Cambio reported that he didn't make it to a Universal Studios performance because he was sick.

The more recent rumor spread was that Niall Horan is leaving the band, but this was the result of a Twitter hack. According to the Latinos Post, the rest of the members of One Direction began a kind of prank where they started talking to Niall and treating him like he was in the past tense. They began texting Niall to come back to the band and making decisions that did not involve him. This was a complete joke, and Niall is still in the band.

One of the worst rumors of the band completely splitting up was resolved by Simon Cowell himself. Cowell is credited as discovering One Direction on his show the X-Factor, and last August there were somehow rumors that the band was breaking up. Part of that was a comment that Simon Cowell told the Daily Star when he said "bands don't stay together forever". Eventually, the music mogul tweeted that "it is my guess and my hope One D will stay together for a very long time", according to the Mirror.

I would have to agree with Simon on that one, as popular boy bands from the nineties like NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys are no longer together. However, it always seems there is some boy band that is topping the charts, and One Direction seems to be reigning, but this will not last. For some reason, the mainstream seems to adore boy bands while at the same time shunning them, and so the band's days are numbered, it is just a matter of how high the number is.

Right now, that number looks big. One Direction has a mammoth world tour that includes Europe and Asia and begins in Sydney, Australia on February 7th. The band meets 80 dates before ending on October 31st in Sheffield.
