This Friday, many Netflix subscribers will get what they have been waiting a year for as Orange is the New Black returns for Season 3. This is what we know about the women of Litchfield penitentiary this season as well as the Premiere Date, Spoilers, and new members of the Cast.
According to iDigitalTimes, Orange is The New Black, Season 3 is "reportedly lighter than the past two seasons". I'm not certain what "lighter" means, but considering the show does use a lot of humor for its last two seasons, it has always been a dramatic story in the women's prison. Apparently, it will have two major themes: faith and motherhood.
As for the motherhood, one of the big plotlines in Season 3 will be Daya's baby. As viewers of Season 2 are aware, Daya (Dascha Polanco) is pregnant with Bennett's (Matt McGorry) baby, but Daya managed to blame the baby on a made-up rape from the corrupt guard Pornstache (Pablo Schreiber).
Pornstache was fired, and won't be back in Season 3, but GameNGuide confirms the rumor that Mary Steenburgen will enter the show as Pornstache's mother, and will try to gain custody rights of the child. There have been reports of a new character being added placing Pornstache named "Berdie" Rogers, played by actress Marsha Stephanie Blake.
Another plotline in Season 3 will be the relationship between Alex and Piper, and a separate article at iDigitalTimes reports that these two characters will be in every episode of Season 3. Alex was notably absent in Season 2, and it is not clear how Piper (Taylor Schilling) will respond when Alex (Laura Prepon) returns. There have been reports that Piper's former fiancé, Larry (Jason Biggs) will not be returning to the new season. There was a hint of Piper and Larry getting back together when she has her furlough, but it looks like the relational focus will be on Piper and Alex, or lack thereof.
According to the Huffington Post, Season 3 of Orange is the New Black will be "the sexiest season yet". Part of that will be the edition of a new inmate named Stella Carlin who will be played by Ruby Rose. There is a promo video with Stella flirting with Piper, and Alex acting worried. Apparently, a feature story in Elle magazine has shown that Stella is going to be a "lust object" for Alex and Piper.
If you want to catch Orange is the New Black, Season 3, then you'll have to go on Netflix on June 12, 2015. There is no word on the exact time, but it should have at least 14 episodes. Considering that the show has been very critically acclaimed and one of Netflix's most watched programs besides Daredevil and House of Cards, there will be a lot of binge-watchers of Orange is the New Black over the weekend to be sure.
