There is a new NVIDIA SHIELD TV looming in the background for 2017, but what of its predecessor? Good news. There is a massive new update 5.0 being pushed out for the original NVIDIA SHIELD TV (2015) that will certainly bring it to be on par with the times. In fact, the latest update does more than offer a bump in the operating system version, it will also deliver other features and functions that would see action on the new NVIDIA SHIELD TV (2017). Does it make sense to purchase the new NVIDIA SHIELD TV (2017) then in this case?
First of all, let us see what update 5.0 brings to the table for the NVIDIA SHIELD TV (2015). Well, the latter would definitely come with more bells and whistles right out of the box, not to mention having a naturally longer lifespan in the market. Support for the NVIDIA SHIELD TV (2015) would also end earlier than the 2017 model -- that much is obvious, so why not get on with the program for the future?
