Game developer Atlus confirmed that Persona 5 will be launched on September 15 in Japan. An Anniversary Edition of the title that includes special features is also on its way to gaming shelves. Now, here's the latest roundup of update about Persona 5 release date, features, and rumors.
Persona 5's official release date was confirmed during the Tokyo Tower Event. According to The Bitbag report, the game developer and publisher have announced that the title will be released in the same month as Final Fantasy 15. The latter will become available on September 30.
The next entry in Persona series was supposed to be released last year. However, it was delayed due to unknown circumstances. The game will be available for both PS3 and PS4.
In addition to the standard edition, Persona 5's Anniversary Edition has a lot of goodies and DLC content that were confirmed in the same announcement. IGN recently reported that the special edition will contain an art book, series-inspired DLC, including outfits from Persona 3 and 4, and a soundtrack with songs from previous Persona games. However, the Anniversary edition is still unknown if it will be available outside Japan. Let's hope that Atlus will include everything in the special edition for their non-Japanese players.
The standard edition will cost 8,800 Yen (roughly $82 USD) while the anniversary-themed Collector's Edition will cost 13,800 yen (around $128USD). This year marks the 20th anniversary of Persona, which started in 1996.
As for the features of the upcoming game, Gamespot stated that the menus are positively filled with style. The game will offer a wide variety of challenging demons and host of enemies. The game's UI is described as beautiful and so striking. It has a unique design that makes it more interesting than other games.
Persona 5's storyline follows a ragtag group of high school students that feel like that they don't belong in society. However, they are drawn together by a common goal after they discovered a thing called Isekai-Navi. It is an item that enables the characters to enter other worlds and steal malicious intent from the hearts of other people. With that item, they branded themselves as "Phantom Thieves of Hearts".
Interestingly, Persona 5 will also be on display at E3 in June. So, expect more news about the game after the event. As of now, there is still no official release date of the title in western markets.
