After starting the season strong, the Philadelphia Eagles are now staring at a losing record in the 2016 NFL Season. But, the team plans to solve this next year by bringing back DeSean Jackson, who is about to become a free agent in the offseason.

Jackson spent the bulk of his career in the NFL with the Eagles after he was drafted by the team during the second round in 2008. For six years, he served as the team's wide receiver before he was signed by the Washington Redskins in 2014 through a three-year contract.

According to ESPN, after going through a disappointing losing season, the Eagles have started to gain interest in re-signing Jackson, who is bound to become an unrestricted free agent next year. Although his speed makes him a vital member of the Redskins roster, the Washington front office will probably not be able to use a franchise tag on him next season since the team is also planning on using the same option on quarterback Kirk Cousins and wide receiver Pierre Garcon.

With Jackson's impending availability next year, his original team will most likely make a move to get him back on its roster.

Although Jackson has struggled with his physical condition over the past couple of years, he was still able to maintain his speed and aggressiveness on the field. Given the way the Eagles have been playing this season, re-signing Jackson is exactly what they need if they want to become a strong playoff contender next year, Philly Mag reported.

Of course, once he's a free agent, Jackson will surely be a hot commodity for other teams looking to boost their offensive line. Although some will probably stick to the draft picks in getting potential stars, there are still other teams out there that are targeting to get veteran wide receivers to add to their lineups.
Being Jackson's debut team in the NFL, the Eagles will probably have an edge over other franchise in signing. But, they should also be prepared to match an offer presented by a rival squad to ensure that Jackson signs with them.

As for the current Eagles lineup, they'll have a chance to reunite with Jackson this Sunday when they take on the Redskins for Week 14.
