June is still about two weeks away, but there are already predictions as to what Sony will offer in next month's PlayStation Plus free games giveaway program. According to recent reports, one of these games could be "Watch Dogs."

The game, which was developed and published by Ubisoft, first arrived on the market in May of 2014. It came out for the Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Wii U platforms.

Due to its open-world setting, complex plot, and progressive gameplay, "Watch Dogs" gained positive reviews when it first debuted and is still regarded as one of the best games for the various consoles.

But, this isn't the only reason that could persuade Sony to include the game in next month's PlayStation Plus lineup. Another factor is the fact that Ubisoft is currently working on its sequel. In February of this year, a financial report released by the studio confirmed rumors about the development of "Watch Dogs 2."

The game also appeared recently during the company's earnings call for the fiscal year of 2017. Although details about the game are still unknown, Yves Guillemot, the CEO of Ubisoft, noted that the company is expecting "Watch Dogs 2" to become the fiscal year's best-selling game, according to Gamespot.

He also noted that it will carry a new tone, which could suggest that the sequel will feature various new changes regarding its overall storyline and gameplay experience.

With Ubisoft becoming more open about discussing "Watch Dogs 2," there's a strong chance that the company will unveil the game at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo event, which is scheduled to take place from June 14 to 16 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

And, to further build the hype around the game, Sony could include "Watch Dogs" in PlayStation Plus' lineup for June of this year. By doing so, the tech giant will be able to market the upcoming "Watch Dogs 2" while keeping subscribers happy by giving them a triple-A game for free, This Gen Gaming reported.

But then again, these are only rumors for now. Gamers can probably expect to see the complete and final list of PlayStation Plus games within the next few days.
