It is that time of the month again, where PlayStation Plus (PS Plus) subscribers are able to enjoy up to six different titles for free -- although the luck of the draw will greatly determine whether it is a good month or a bad one for gamers. I still wonder what the criteria or algorithm is, if there is one, to be able to figure just which particular movie is made available to the masses. Without much further ado, here is the list of free games for the month of May 2017 where PS Plus subscribers are concerned.
From next Tuesday onward, May 2, PS Plus subscribers who rock to the PS4 will be able to download Alienation and Tales from the Borderlands. Blood Knights and Port Royale 3: Pirates and Merchants will be made available for PS3 owners, while PlayStation Vita owners (yes, the minority of you out there) will be able to enjoy Laser Disco Defenders and Type: Rider coming to PlayStation Vita.
The two Cross Buy titles would be Laser Disco Defenders and Type: Rider, which are available on Cross Buy with PS4. I guess this continues the long standing tradition of having Cross Buy titles available each month with your PS Plus subscription. One thing that should be taken note of is this: PS3 gamers will obviously be unable to play PS4 titles because their consoles are lagging behind by one generation’s worth of technology, but the opposite is true for PS4 owners who are able to enjoy PS3 titles.
Tales from the Borderlands would be an epic adventure if you are looking for something that is not only brainy, but is also enthralling enough to keep you riveted. After all, this comes in the form of a five-part episodic series from the experts at Telltale Games. It has been set in the unforgiving world of Pandora, right after the events of Borderlands 2. The gamer will then follow the journey of Rhys and Fiona as they are thrown together in order to pick up a fortune that they rightfully believe belongs to them.
Alternatively, if you would like to release some steam without getting all stressed up over a game, there is always Abzu. In Abzu, you need not fly to the nearest island, as you can immerse yourself in an ocean full of life and wonder.
How do you find May 2017’s lineup of free games for PS Plus subscribers? Are they according to your liking, or do you think that Sony could have done better with the offerings? It is also important to take note that both the US and Europe will receive different titles, depending on which region that you live in. The titles above are meant for those residing in North America, so folks there would have Abzu instead of Alienation. There are times when the game releases across the pond happen to be more enticing for PS Plus subscribers, and vice versa. A lot of it boils down to the throw of the dice, really.
