Sony has been doing a bang-up job of providing quality free games to PlayStation Plus members the last few months, but will that trend continue for the February 2015 free game offerings?

The network has traditionally provided some high quality indie games for free each month to paying members of the PlayStation Plus network, but December 2014 and January 2015's lists included some AAA games that many believe were introduced to help make up for the downtime fiasco and hacking problems the company faced late last year.

December's Injustice and January's InFamous: First Light games were a welcome addition to the libraries of PS fans, but we wanted to take a good look at what we can expect for February's free games.

Normally, the PlayStation network offers a game that is newly released as a free game, as we saw with last month's Woah Dave! and Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition. So looking at February's new releases, we see everything from Evolve to Dragon Ball Xenoverse, but the important thing is to notice when games are coming to the network. Since the free games start being offered on February 3 this year, the only game on the list for that day is Criminal Girls: Invite Only for the PS Vita. That makes this a good possibility for being free.

But if Sony is going for the big-name triple-A games, we have Evolve and Dead or Alive 5 both releasing for the network next month, although a bit too late to be included on February 3. On the PlayStation community website, users were asked to vote for what games they'd like to see come to the network as free for February. This isn't always a sure indicator of what's to come, but it shows Sony what the players want, and that's important if they're paying attention.

On the voted list we have Transistor for the PS4, Worms: Battlegrounds for the PS4, Rain for the PS3, Resident Evil: Revelations for the PS3, Olli Olli for the PS Vita, and Toukiden for the PS Vita. Resident Evil: Revelations' Episode 1 is launching for the PlayStation network on February 17th anyway, so that's a good possibility if players are clamoring for it.

The number of free games is up in the air as Sony has been releasing a variable amount each month. In January, we saw four games offered as free, but the number ranges from three to six or more, depending on what's available.

The remaining free games on the list will undoubtedly be indies, and that's anyone's guess. Hopefully we'll see some older classics on the PS Vita and PS3 as well as brand new releases for the PS4.

Either way, you can look for the February free game list to be dropping very soon in time for the February 3 switch-over date, at which time all of January's free games will revert to paid.
