The year of 2016 is promised to be very great for Pokémon. Not only was it the twentieth anniversary of the gaming/trading card franchise, but several games were promised for players. One of them is Pokémon Sun and Moon, which will be arriving shortly before Thanksgiving. The other is Pokémon GO, which still has no release date, but promises to be something special. In fact, the location-based game developed for iOS and Android by Niantic will have a Q&A session at E3 2016, and here is how to livestream the event.
Pokémon Sun and Moon
Gamespot reports that for Pokémon Sun and Moon, the company has announced the Legendary creatures that appear in the game. For Pokémon Sun, it is the Solgaleo, a Sunne Pokémon category with type Psychic/Steel, and this lion-shaped Pokémon has a Full Metal Body. Solgaleo's signature move is the Sunsteel Strike, which is an attack that charges at an opponent with the force of a meteor.
As for Pokémon Moon, it is Lunala, and it is a Moone Pokémon category with type Psychic/Ghost and this bat-shaped Pokémon has the new ability of Shadow Shield. Lunala's signature Moongeist Beam attack releases a beam of light that can disregard the target's Ability.
As most Pokémon fans know, the two new Pokémon games take place in the Alola region, which is four tropical islands along with one artificial island. The player can be male or female, and can name his or her character as well as customize the appearance.
Also involved in Pokémon Sun and Moon are some new human characters like Professor Kukui. The professor sports a white lab coat, and is pretty passionate about studying Pokémon. There is also a mysterious assistant of the professor named Lillie, who loves book reading. There is also a new character added named Hau, who loves Pokémon and has a big heart.
The big news from the Pokémon company is that Pokémon Sun and Moon will include a QR scanner for functionality in order to register Pokémon and find new ones. We now know the release date of Pokémon Sun and Moon to be on November 18, 2016.
Pokémon GO
Speaking of finding new Pokémon, Pokémon GO is going to be happening...soon. There still is no word on when Pokémon Go will finally be in the hands of mobile consumers, but Tech Advisor reports that there will be a Pokémon GO Q&A session held at E3 2016.
E3 is a huge video game convention that is held every summer at the Los Angeles Convention Center, and the Q&A for Pokémon GO has been confirmed for NicoVideo in Japan for livestream broadcasting at 10 AM PT, 1 PM ET, 6PM UK, and 7 PM CET.
Much of the news about Pokémon GO hasn't really changed in the past few weeks, but news about it leaks constantly with certain aspects of the game. For example, there is news that players can customize their trainer, and take that trainer through various levels. The higher you get, the more powerful Pokémon that you can collect. Pokémon that are caught can also evolve once you have caught the same species of Pokémon enough times.
Since this game takes place in the real world, you can find some rare Pokémon in certain corners of the world. There will also be Gym locations at real locations, and it is possible to steal Gyms from other teams using your own Pokémon for battle.
Perhaps the E3 2016 Q&A will finally nail down the release date of the mobile game, and if it does, Pokémon fans will be satisfied when Pokémon GO gets released.
