Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, Release Date; Alice Joins Forces with Old Friends, Unlikely Ally in Final Battle Against Zombies

Picking up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, the sixth installment of the zombie apocalypse franchise, Resident Evil, Alice (Milla Jovovich) finds that finds humanity is on its last legs and must return to Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is preparing for a final strike against the survivors of the apocalypse. Alice must also deal with the betrayal by Wesker in Washington D.C.

Taking a break from shooting Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, Jovovich shared a selfie on her Instagram account with the smiling popular South Korean actor and singer Lee Goon Gi as her nemesis Commander Lee from the Umbrella Corp.

Jovovich also shared a treasure trove of photos about the upcoming Resident Evil: The Final Chapter on her Instagram showing him back in Racoon City for a final showdown against the evil Umbrella Corp.

Jovovich writes, "Working for the last few nights with the incredible 3rd Dan Tae Kwon Do master and actor Joon Gi @actor_jg has been insanely fun and so inspiring. Makes me want to go back to class and brush up on my martial arts skills!"

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is Lee's debut in Hollywood, reported Variety. He is hugely popular in South Korea and shot to prominence for his role in role in Lee Joon-ik's hit period drama The King and the Clown in 2005. He also starred in Virgin Snow, a joint production between South Korean and Japanese firms. Lee recently finished filming the Chinese movie,  Begin Again which was originally titled Under the Sicily Sun.

Lee was also featured in The Scholar who Walks at Night, reported Movie News Guide.

Jovovich described Lee as having a "flower boy" appeal despite being a 3rd Dan Tae Kwon Do master. She writes in her Twitter account, "Night shoots with the incredible Korean actor and 3rd Dan martial artist Joon Gi! https://instagram.com/millajovovich/."

Other Korean stars recently finding their way to Hollywood include Lee Byung-hun (RED, G.I. Joe, Terminator: Genisys), Choi Min-sik (Lucy), and Lee Ki-hong (Mazerunner) as well as Song Kang-ho (Snowpiercer).

The Resident Evil: The Final Chapter's plot follows Alice race against time as she joins forces with what is left of humanity in one final battle against the Umbrella Corp.

The movie's official log line said, "In a race against time, Alice will join forces with old friends, and an unlikely ally, in an action packed battle with undead hordes and new mutant monsters. Between losing her superhuman abilities and Umbrella's impending attack, this will be Alice's most difficult adventure as she fights to save humanity, which is on the brink of oblivion."

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter will hit the theaters on Jan 27, 2017.
