Despite having a stiff competition with Fallout 4 and StarCraft II, publishers Square Enix and Microsoft are "very happy" with the current sales of Rise of the Tomb Raider, which was released on November 10.
As of now, the game is available on Xbox One and Xbox 360. The game will be released eventually for the PS4 and PC platforms next year, according to IGN News. Square Enix confirmed the PC version of the game would arrive in "early 2016."
Because the game is only available on Xbox consoles, some reports say Rise of the Tomb Raider didn't do well at retail. Estimates show the game sold less than 63,000 units in the UK.
"Poor Tomb Raider. UK sales: Rise of the Tomb Raider <63k. And #Fallout4 - despite Microsoft Xbox One support - still sold better on PS4," said Sony's Senior Product Manager Chris Brown via Twitter.
In the platform sales, Rise of the Tomb Raider had good numbers for Xbox One. The Xbox One version of the game were sold for more than 229,742 units, which is more than the 71,286 sold units for Xbox 360. These estimates came from Global Weekly Chart.
Regarding percentage, the Xbox One version garnered 76 percent of sales, and the Xbox 360 edition earned 24 percent. This data shows that more gamers are moving to the new game platform.
It is also interesting to note that these statistics do not include the sales for next year in PC and PS4 platforms. Square Enix hopes the game could get higher earnings in 2016.
"We accomplished these goals. The press considers Rise of the Tomb Raider a high-quality game based on the scores," said Brian Horton, game Director in Rise of the Tomb Raider (Crystal Dynamics).
During the pre-show of The Game Awards 2015, the first DLC for the Rise of the Tomb Raider was announced. The new downloadable content will add more hours to story-based gameplay, as per HardcoreGamer report says.
The DLC is called "Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch". The new addition focuses on the story of Lara Croft as she explores a new area and fight new enemies.

The Rise of the Tomb Raider is a game about exploring breathtaking locations and suffering with style. The game is packed with fun puzzles, adventure and optional challenge areas.
In a review published in GamesRadar, it says the game's animation is exceptional. It gives players a thrilling and realistic gaming experience. Every leap, roll and zip-line descent have just the right amount of plausibility to make players think "yeah Lara Croft could do that", especially when her face is telling them that she has no idea how she just did that. The result is an adventure game, and action movie rolled into one awesome package.
