The Tomb Raider reboot of 2013 started with a young Lara Croft on an island where it was a kill or be killed situation, and Lara is apparently traumatized by having to do the former. Now, in the sequel, the Rise of the Tomb Raider, Lara is back in action, and we know more about the release date and an update thanks to a brand new trailer.

According to Gotta Be Mobile, there is another new trailer called "Descent Into Legend" for Rise of the Tomb Raider that reveals a lot more about the game than the one released back in June.  The trailer shows a lot of action as Lara Croft is aiming with a bow and arrow at a cat, climbing walls, and visiting very intriguing places. Previous trailers had shown very little but Lara in therapy and some action, but not as intense as this.

The story behind the action is that Lara is in Siberia hunting down the Lost City of Kitezh with Jonah Maiava, and she will encounter plenty of dangers on her path.  According to a plot summary reported on Screen Rant, Lara Croft is embarking on her first great tomb raiding expedition "to uncover an ancient mystery that places her in the cross-hairs of a ruthless organization known as Trinity".

New additions to the game series is a day and night cycle, as well as an upgraded crafting system.  There are also improved combat controls and many ways of taking out enemies.  Crystal Dynamics, the gaming studio behind the new Tomb Raider, has said it is "the most immersive and visually stunning Tomb Raider game ever made".

It should be noted that on the new trailer, Microsoft appears before the Cyrstal Dynamics logo.  There is because of the Microsoft exclusivity deal so that the Rise of the Tomb Raider game will be released for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 first. It should also be noted that Microsoft is offering the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition for free on their Games with Gold service from September 16th to October 15th.  It is very clear that Microsoft is using the Tomb Raider brand to get people onto their console.

As for when Rise of the Tomb Raider be released to the PC and the PS4 (it is possible that a PS3 version could be made considering Xbox 360 is getting a version), it will be "after the prime selling season".  There isn't any specific news of a PlayStation or PC release date, and perhaps the prime selling season is the holidays?  There are reports that Rise of the Tomb Raider will be available on Microsoft Windows in early 2016 and then on PlayStation 4 in late 2016.

Expect to see Rise of the Tomb Raider on Microsoft platforms on November 10, 2015.  If that date sounds familiar to you, then you are probably expecting to purchase another game from another popular franchise on that date with the release of Fallout 4
