Samsung Galaxy Note 6 Specs, Rumors & Updates: Upcoming Handset to Come with Key Improvements over Note 5?

Now that Samsung has released the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge handset, it can now focus on its other flagship device, the Galaxy Note. And, as suggested in recent rumors, the upcoming Galaxy Note 6 will come with a better display configuration.

The Galaxy Note 5 was first unveiled to the public in August of 2015. Like the Galaxy Note 4, the Galaxy Note 5 features a 5.7 inch display. But, for the next version, it seems Samsung is looking to provide a bigger handset by equipping the Galaxy Note 6 with a 5.8-inch screen. In addition, the display of the upcoming device will have Quad HD capabilities, Bidness ETC reported.

Another major improvement that is expected from the Galaxy Note 6 is its battery life. Almost immediately after the release of the Galaxy Note 5, a lot of users got disappointed with the device's 3,020 mAh battery. The upcoming device, however, could come with a bigger battery set at either 3,600 or 4,000 mAh.

Aside from these, like the Galaxy S7, the Galaxy Note 6 will come in two versions. One will reportedly house an upgraded variant of Samsung's own Exynos 8890 chipset while the other version will come with the Snapdragon 820 processor from Qualcomm.

Both versions are expected to feature 254GB Universal Flash Storage 2.0. As previously explained by Samsung, this feature is capable of supporting reading and writing speeds of 850 MB/s and 260 MB/s respectively, International Business Times has learned.

Aside from having two processor-based versions, other key features that the Galaxy Note 6 might borrow from the Galaxy S7 include support for wireless charging and the water-resistant body design. Also, the Galaxy Note 6 might feature microSD support, which would enable users to expand their device's internal storage.

Rumors also suggest that Samsung is working on a special dock that when used with the Galaxy Note 6, can expand the features of the device and function like a laptop-handset hybrid device.

As for its possible launch, Samsung could stick with the current release cycle of its Galaxy Note series and debut the upcoming device in August of this year. But, since Samsung has not yet officially unveiled the specs and features of the Galaxy Note 6, these details should only be taken with a grain of salt as they are only based on rumors and speculations.
