Samsung is known for developing top-class gadgets, so it is not suprising gadget lovers are now excited to see the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 7. The device is said to have advanced iris scanner and will be released August this year. Here's the latest update about Samsung Galaxy Note 7 release date, specs and rumors.
A report from Korea Herald says a Korean camera module-maker Patron provided the iris camera modules of the Galaxy Note 7. Patron reportedly won a bid five months ago to supply the much-needed iris scanners of Samsung. Eye scanner is one of the main features of Galaxy Note 7.
In comparison to fingerprint sensor, iris scanner is hundred times more accurate and it has lower error rate. Fingerprint scanners can only recognize 40 traits, whereas iris scanners can recognize 266 traits for much greater accuracy. Tech experts said the eye scanning technology will strengthen the security feature of Galaxy Note 7.
For other features, Tech Times reported the device will have a large 5.8-inch dual-curved edge display and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 823 chip. It will also have enhanced S Pen support. Buyers can choose from 64 GB and 128 GB internal storage options. For larger memory, the device has microSD expansion slot which can expand the internal memory for up to 200 GB.
Furthermore, the device will have IP68-certified water-resistant body, a USB Type-C port, 12 megapixel rear camera and a 4,000 mAh battery. Several tech websites claim the Galaxy Note 7 will be running on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
For those unaware, Samsung rebranded the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 to Samsung Galaxy Note 7. This move is an effort to match the series number of Galaxy Note to the existing Galaxy S handsets - Galaxy S7 Edge and Galaxy S7 Active. It is reported some Samsung fans think the Galaxy Note 6 is a generation behind the Galaxy S7. Lifting the series number of the Note device to 7 is good strategy for its marketing.
As for the launching of Galaxy Note 7, Sam Mobile said it will happen on the next Galaxy Unpacked 2016 event. Based on the leaked image, the device will be released on August 2, 2016 at the Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center in New York.
Samsung will reportedly manufacture 5 million units of its stylus-based phablet, according to CNET. It is expected the South Korea-based electronics maker will give more details about Samsung Galaxy Note 7 in the next weeks to come. Stay tuned for more update.
