Samsung is currently navigating through unchartered territory -- especially with the recall of their Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and subsequent discontinuation of the flagship device despite trying to correct the situation with free replacement devices that supposedly will not spontaneously combust -- although they do in the end. Well, what can consumers look forward to when it comes to the next Samsung blockbuster? The rumor mills have certainly started to spin overtime with word that work on the Samsung Galaxy S8 could be expedited for obvious reasons -- the South Korean conglomerate would like to ensure that the Galaxy S8 is a device that will blow everything out of the water in a good way, in order to make it up for the disappointment of the Galaxy Note 7.
While there is no official announcement on the Samsung Galaxy S8 just yet, it would be inconceivable for Samsung to avoid the release of that handset altogether. It simply would not make any sense, taking into consideration how the Galaxy S series has long been a mainstay for the company, and each iteration have always gained its fair share of accolades and bouquets. Apart from that, there are also rumors going around that there will be a new Note device coming sometime next year, although there has been nothing concrete just yet. Well, you know what they say -- if at first you don’t succeed, try again, and perhaps this is why Samsung is not quite ready to drop the Galaxy Note series just yet despite consumers being literally burned with the last outing.
Samsung has definitely stepped up on the marketing effort of their S series ever since the Note 7 situation blew up in their faces, giving both the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge a new lease of life in the market.
According to Samsung's Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong, he did admit that turning the situation around is not an easy task -- although they have slated the new Galaxy S8 to do exactly just that. Samsung’s Vice President, Lee Kyeong-tae, did step forward to mention that the Galaxy S8 will come with a "slick design and an improved camera as well as an enhanced artificial intelligence service". Expect this coming spring to bloom with anticipation of the Samsung Galaxy S8, and Tech Radar was so bold as to pinpoint February 26 as the announcement date of the Galaxy S8 -- although we would not rule that date out to be the release date, either.
Assuming the presented rumors are true, then it would not be out of line of Samsung’s character. After all, they have more or less released the new Galaxy S series smartphone during the spring in the past, so the same might very well happen in the first quarter of 2017. At the end of the day, all of the rumors that you read concerning the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 ought to be taken with a pinch of salt -- or perhaps a couple of teaspoonfuls, just to temper expectations in case you end up disappointed.
