After the debacle concerning the Galaxy Note 7 and its exploding battery, the Samsung Galaxy S8 is looked toward as the benchmark that will help get Samsung back on track and patch up whatever tattered confidence that remains. Hence, expectations are running high for the Galaxy S8. The question is, will Samsung be able to deliver?
The latest round of rumors and leaks concerning the Samsung Galaxy S8 point to its release date, launch date, pricing details and tiers, and hardware specifications of the new Samsung flagship. According to a tipster on Twitter, Ricciolo said that the Samsung Galaxy S8 is 'ready'. Mobile World Congress 2017 that will be held in Barcelona, Spain, next month is the rumored platform for the Galaxy S8’s debut. However, the same tip also pointed to a longer waiting period before the masses are able to wrap their fingers around the Samsung Galaxy S8, which would be March 29 as that is when the Galaxy S8 will see an official launch. In Samsung’s more recent tradition, there will be the larger sized Galaxy S8 Plus which will also follow suit, except that there will be a late April rollout.
Not only that, Ricciolo also mentioned that Samsung has priced the new flagship Galaxy S8 at EUR 849, which would make it more expensive right from the get go compared to the highest end Samsung Galaxy S7 edge model. For those whom money is no object, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus is whispered to cost another EUR 100 more, which would mean that each subsequent Samsung flagship device has seen an upward movement in terms of pricing. Bad news for those who are on a budget!
As for the Samsung Galaxy S8’s specifications, we look forward to any kind of technological marvels that will further augment Samsung’s customer base where Android-powered smartphones are concerned. Both the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus are said to arrive with dual-edge curved displays. While the bezels will not be eliminated totally, they are said to be thin at both the bottom and top edges, responding to varying levels of pressure. There is also the distinct possibility of dropping both the Home Button and navigation buttons, and the fingerprint scanner might migrate to the back or even moved underneath the display.
Its waterproof capability should remain, as that is a huge plus for the current generation Galaxy S7 flagship, and word has it that two cameras will be thrown into the mix for the Galaxy S8 Plus in order to keep up with the times. Will it be a wide angle lens on one and a regular lens on the other like the LG G5, or will it take the Xiaomi Pro’s approach? Only time will tell.
