Samsung has declared it a new age with S-UHD TV at CES 2015.  The company had their press conference for CES Media Monday, and reminded that they helped bring UHD mainstream, and are taking to the next level with S-UHD TV.

The first specimen of Samsung's S-UHD TV revolution is an 88-inch 9800 TV that has a curved screen.  It is made from Samsung's proprietary nano-crystal semiconductors to deliver the highest color purity and light efficiency available today with 64 times the color expression of conventional TVs.  S-UHD also plans on an upscaling process to shift the HD and Full HD content to near UHD quality.  This will enable the watcher to see the smallest of details, and there is also a new external design from master designer Yves Behar.

To demonstrate this, Samsung called out Stephen Nakamura, a digital colorist who has most recently worked with the Exodus: Gods and Kings movie.  He stated that color can often bring a movie to life on the big screen, and now owners of S-UHD TVs will be able to enjoy all the colors seen on movie screens in the comfort of their own homes.

To add even more to UHD advancement, Samsung announced the formation of the UHD alliance, many companies joining together to create new standards of UHD quality.

In addition to adding the "S" before the new TVs, Samsung also has a plan to make TVs smarter with the Tizen operating system.  It will allow users to control their TV with a remote, voice, or gestures and to instantly link up with device to your TV.  There was much emphasis that all TVs will soon be smart, just like any new TV will be in color.

In addition to video, there was also emphasis on audio as Samsung intends to unleash a new type of speaker that is omni-directional.  This "ring radiator technology" will project sound in all directions, making every spot a "sweet spot" to hear the most ideal sound quality.

Speaking of sound, Samsung also took the opportunity to talk about the Milk music project that allows users to discover, collect, and share all kinds of content in one quick place.  Milk will be added to all the Samsung Smart TVs, and they will also apply it to Milk VR, and exclusive service with Gear VR with a daily stream of immersive 360 degree videos.  In fact, Samsung is wanting to create content based on the popular The Walking Dead series, but they were unable to say when that would be released.

There were other announcements also not related to S-UHD at the press conference.  Samsung opened very quickly with the Samsung Portable SSD T1, a small portable memory device that is smaller than a business card yet can hold a terabyte of data.  Samsung also wants to extend its kitchen collection with a Flex Duo with Dual Door oven more cooking two dishes at the same time.  They also brought three chefs on stage in order to explain their new chef Collection App, an easier way for making recipes.
