The Green Bay Packers will head to the Pacific Northwest on Jan. 18 to face off against the Seattle Seahawks at CenturyLink Field for a spot in Super Bowl XLIX. Viewers can watch the NFC Championship 2015 online via live stream - free for subscribers - below.
Both teams have a 13-4 record heading into the NFC title game and previously met in Week 1. If the Seahawks succeed in winning their second straight NFC championship, the Associated Press noted that they would become the first team in 10 seasons to reach the Super Bowl in back-to-back years.
"It's going to be one of those for the ages," Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson said. "You look forward to that."
The Associated Press reported that the Seahawks won over the Carolina Panthers 31-17 last weekend. While Seattle is a winner in seven straight and 10 of 11, the team remains cautiously optimistic.
"It's exciting but the job is not done," Wilson said. "There is still a lot more to do."
According to Brad Gagnon of CBS Sports, Sunday's game will include a matchup between Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman and Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. However, it may not be a fair comparison, considering that Rodgers is dealing with a "fairly significant" calf injury, which involved a "slight tear" in his left calf.
"Call it the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao of the NFL, which strongly applies considering that Rodgers somehow found a way to completely duck Sherman in their Week 1 matchup," Gagnon wrote.
Despite the injury, which was noticeable when Rodgers limped during the wild-card game against the Cowboys last weekend, Gagnon had a glowing review of Rodgers and his performance on the field.
"By most measures, Rodgers is the best quarterback in the game and one of the greatest of all time," Gagnon wrote. "Few can dispute that, since he's got the highest passer rating and touchdown-to-interception ratio in NFL history."
Rodgers was also determined to play in the upcoming NFC championship game no matter what.
"I think I've got 120 minutes left in me," Rodgers said. "So I'm going to do everything I can to make sure I can play all those minutes."
However, Gagnon also noted that Sherman, under most measures, was "the NFL's best cornerback."
"The three-time first-team All-Pro has graded out as a top-five corner at Pro Football Focus three years in a row, but he's also arguably playing his best football right now," Gagnon wrote. "During the final six weeks of the regular season, Sherman has allowed an opposing passer rating of just 15.2, which was easily the lowest mark in the NFL. He's given up only 10 catches since Week 12."
Sherman commented to the Associated Press about the strategy the Seahawks would use against Green Bay.
"Guys are playing selfless," Sherman said. "There aren't any egos, there aren't any agendas, and guys just want to do whatever it takes to win."
Although Sherman may be an intimidating force on the gridiron, the Packers seem to be unafraid of challenging him.
"I don't think anybody's intimidated. I mean he's a great player," Packers tight end Andrew Quarless said about Sherman. "Their secondary is definitely a great secondary. You've got to give them their respect. But you know the whole 'Legion of Boom' - we'll see."
The "Legion of Boom" as mentioned by Quarless referred to the intimidating sounds that Seahawks fans make when their team has home field advantage. Packers offensive lineman T.J. Lang thought his team will hold its own in Seattle, even with that factor in play.
"It's going to be a good matchup and we're excited about it," Lang said. "It's going to be a tough one, we understand that, but we'll be ready for the challenge."
