According to the Observer, there will be two hours scheduled for the broadcast of the three-way match-up between Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, and Martin O'Malley. CBS news is also going to partner with Twitter on the Democratic debate, with the official hashtag for the event being #DemDebate. Nick Pacilio from Twitter's communications team has told the Observer in a phone call that this is the first time that the social media company has been partnering with a presidential debate. CBS News President David Rhodes says that "Twitter integration will inform our coverage and integrate seamlessly with CBSN, our always-on digital network". Twitter users will be able to contribute to the debate and reflect on the night's events in real time, and will also be able to submit questions, according to TechCrunch.
Vox has stated that having a Democratic debate on a Saturday might not be smart, as it will be on a night and a time-slot where no one will watch it. However, Bustle states that "things are guaranteed to get wild", so this might draw in viewers despite the questionable timeslot.
Considering that the Democratic debate was a target for Saturday Night Live last week when Republican candidate Donald Trump was the host, it will be interesting to see if NBC's live satirical comedy sketch show will attempt to address it with another sketch or just mention it in the Weekend Update.
