In 2013, a made-for-TV movie Sharknado became a phenomenon overnight as this disaster film about a tornado filled with sharks swept viewer's hearts away along with their minds.  It is not surprising that the film got The Second One (which is Sharknado 2's official subtitle) and a third one that was subtitled Oh Hell No.  This third film ended on a bit of a cliffhanger, but there is going to be another one with Sharknado 4, and this is what is known about the release date and the cast of what will inevitably be the unexplained return of the Sharknado.

According to Yahoo News, Gary Busey has chosen to appear in Sharknado 4.  This actor is pretty well-known for his crazy demeanor, and he seems a perfect fit for the Sharknado series.  He is planned to play the father of April (Tara Reid) in the fourth film.

Also planning to appear is supermodel Cheryl Tiegs as the mother of Fin (Ian Ziering).  There are also reports that David Hasselhoff will be reprising his role as Gil, the father of Fin.  Having Hasselhoff in the film seems contrary to what was in the previous film, as it seemed like the Hoff had his last blaze of glory.

Without revealing too much, there was another main character who appeared to have been killed at the end of the third film, but considering that these characters have taken a lot of hits over three Sharknado movies, it is doubtful whether or not this character is truly dead.

If you are not familiar with the Sharknado series, there isn't any explanation of where the sharknado comes from.  You know, this tornado that picks up sharks and for some reason keeps them alive as it spins and destroys, and this fourth movie would be a good time to reveal this.  Also, it would also be a good time to explain why these sharknados follow Fin and April everywhere they go, not to mention how sharks got into space in the third film.  Yes, there were sharks in space with David Hasselhoff at the end of the third film, so it would be very difficult to top that, honestly.

The Sharknado series is a joint venture of the SyFy channel and Asylum Studios.  Asylum is most famous for their "mockbusters" by releasing films direct-to-video that bear a strong resemblance to films that are blockbusters in theaters.  For example, it released Transmorphers when Transformers was big in theaters, and this company has made some faith-based films as well.  When they combined with SyFy to make a film so bad that it was good on purpose, the Sharknado franchise was born with an inane premise played so seriously at times.  Sharknado became so big that later Sharknado films have been full of cameos, and this one is no exception as it will feature Tommy Davidson, Cody Linley, Imani Hakim, Masiela Lusha, and Aston Reynolds.

As far as a release date for Sharknado 4, it is planned to appear on the SyFy channel sometime this year.  Leave a suggestion for what you want to see in the next film, and for a review of the first three films, click here.
