Sony Mobile confirmed the upcoming Xperia smartphone through its social media posts last Tuesday. However, the posts were deleted after a couple of hours. Here's what is known about Sony Xperia E5 release data, specs, and rumors.
The company immediately removed the confirmation of Sony Xperia E5 in Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. According to a Gadgets 360 report, the reason behind pulling off the announcement is that Sony may have revealed the upcoming smartphone ahead of the planned release.
The new Sony smartphone was described in different ways. In Facebook it was "Eager, effortless, and easy to the eye - it's everything a smartphone should be. Say hello to your savvy new sidekick, Xperia E5." In Twitter: "Meet Xperia E5, your new reliable assistant, available around the clock." Lastly, in Instagram: "Fuss-free. Intelligent. Impressive. That's what Xperia E5 is saying How about you?"
Also, Xperia Blog stated that it was the company's first budget release this year.
Unfortunately, there are no other details about the smartphone aside from the accidental announcement. Analysts expected that the successor of Xperia E4 will pack mid-range specifications. According to International Business Times, the smartphone is rumored to feature a pocket-friendly 4.6-inch display with 720p screen resolution.
Furthermore, Xperia E5 will be equipped with MediaTek's MT6735 chipset to boost its performance. It will also have a 1.5 GB RAM to back the chipset.
As for its internal memory, it is expected to offer 16 GB of built-in storage space. However, an expandable storage option is not yet confirmed.
On the other hand, Sony came up with pre-registrations for the Xperia XA and Xperia X smartphones in India. Interested users can now sign up on the company's website. People who registered early will have an opportunity to know the specs and features of the upcoming smartphones. Sony will announce the pricing of the Sony Xperia X and XA in the next couple of weeks.
To recall, Sony introduced the new smartphone X series with Xperia X, Xperia XA, and Xperia X Performance at MWC 2016.
As for other reports, the new Sony Xperia XA Ultra was revealed last week. The smartphone is now available for pre-order in the UK. Several tech websites reported that it costs around $430 at current exchange rates. It features 6-inch full HD display, Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, and 3GB RAM.
