It seems that Sony is gearing up to present something big at Barcelona's Mobile World Congress 2016 (MWC). Most of online reports claim that the Japanese tech giant will launch the Sony Xperia Z6 on Feb. 22 during the MWC. Now, here's the round-up of Sony Xperia Z6 release date, price and specification rumors surrounding the internet.
Rumors about the February's launch of Xperia Z6 intensified when Sony announced that they are planning to hold a press conference at the Mobile World Congress on February 22. Several tech experts say the announcement might be related to the next iteration of Sony Xperia Z phones.
Traditionally, Sony is releasing two flagship smartphones every year. The company recently released Sony Xperia Z5, along with Compact and Premium versions during the Europe's IFA September last year. Now, there are speculations that the company would use the MWC trade show next month to release the Sony Xperia Z6.
On another hand, PC Advisor estimated that Sony Xperia Z6 might become available on September 2016. The website thinks Sony will use the February announcement to talk about their new tablet, particularly a successor to the Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet.
To add more weight to the September 2016 prediction, one of Sony's phone designers gave a strong hint that Sony Xperia Z6 will be available in the second half of 2016. "We are already working on 2016 second half, 17 and 18," Sony's Art Director Rikke Gertsen Constein said in an interview.
The details about the device's firm release date are still scarce. For now, we'll check the rumored specs of the next-generation Xperia phone. It is reported that the device will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 processor coupled with 3- or 4GB of RAM and up to 32GB of storage. Moreover, expandable storage via Micro-SD card slot will be available.
Sony is known for devices that have long lasting battery life, but gadget lovers would like to see the wireless charging feature for the upcoming Xperia phone. The same source from PC Advisor said the company might include USB Type-C in the smartphone.
Furthermore, the Sony Xperia Z6 will have the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow right out of the box. The firmware is packed with innovative apps and features, such as Now on Tap and the battery-boosting Doze.
As for the price of the next Xperia Z phone, rumors said it will be available for around £500 to match the price range of Z5 phones.
