Professional surfer and shark attack survivor Bethany Hamilton announced the arrival of her baby on Facebook and Twitter Monday, posting a sweet family picture of herself, husband Adam Dirks, and baby boy Tobias. This was her first post on social media since she gave birth.

Baby Tobias was born on June 1, weighing 7.9 pounds and measuring 21 inches long. The boy's name, which was taken from his great grandfather Tobias, means "the goodness of God." The new mom is positively in love with her little boy and says she and her husband are excited to share their lives with him.

Hamilton and husband Adam announced in February that they were expecting a baby through a "Baby on Board!" video posted on her website. An excited Hamilton said the filming of her new movie, Surfs Like a Girl, would be delayed to give way to her pregnancy, adding that she was expected to give birth in early summer.

During her pregnancy, Hamilton surfed as much as she was able before her belly got big.

"I have been surfing as much as I can before lil Jr. takes over my belly, so this past month I surfed a lot of fun waves; loving surfing just as much as ever!" she wrote in her website when she was about five months pregnant.

Even as her belly got bigger, the soul surfer could not be stopped from hitting the waves. She only said goodbye to surfing temporarily on the final term of her pregnancy to prepare for the coming baby.

Although Hamilton expressed doubts as to whether she could take care of her baby with just one arm, the determined 25-year-old is up to the challenge.

"I think how I live life now. I just adjust and adapt to different things and I'll find my own ways to take care of the baby," she said, according to Mail Online.

Hamilton met Adam in 2012 through mutual friends. She and the youth minister, who is also a surfer, got engaged in April 2013. They were married in August 18 in an intimate ceremony with 300 family and friends. The wedding was held in a private estate in Kauai.

Aside from being a professional surfer, Hamilton is also an author. In 2004, she wrote her autobiography "Soul Surfer: A True Story of Faith, Family and Fighting to Get Back on the Board," which was adapted into a movie in 2011. Her new book, "Body and Soul," which was published in 2014, inspires readers to live a healthy, fit and balanced lifestyle and reminds them that spiritual health is just as important as physical health.

Hamilton is a motivational speaker and serves as an inspiration to many young women all over the world.
