LeBron James may star in Space Jam 2, if rumors are to be believed. The latest gossip follows after Warner Brothers announced a partnership with the NBA icon. As of yet, release date and cast information have not been confirmed by official sources.

On Wednesday, Warner Bros. announced an agreement with LeBron James covering all areas of content creation including TV, film and original digital content. The studio also pointed out that the partnership is unprecedented in its scope.

In everything I've done, from Nike commercials to Uninterrupted and Survivor's Remorse, it's always about connecting with people of all ages and providing unique content they can all enjoy," James said in a Warner Bros. statement to the press. This announcement led movie watchers to believe that LeBron may show up in the long-rumored sequel to the original 1996 movie starring NBA legend Michael Jordan and actor-comedian Bill Murray.

LeBron himself co-starred in the 2015 film Trainwreck, which made $30 million as the box office. The NBA player-turned-actor was relatively well-received by critics and filmgoers.

The rumor was seemingly backed up by a Twitter posting from Alex Weprin, who reported that Warner Bros. quietly filed for new Space Jam trademarks. The media reporter produced official documents, which he posted on the original posting. In response, the internet exploded with both calls of support and opposition. Wired magazine cheekily offered a free Space Jam 2 soundtrack along with a "Your Welcome" note.

Last year in February, Deadline claimed that Space Jam 2 would star LeBron James and be directed by TV producer Charlie Ebersol. Sources close to LeBron were quick to deny such reports on Twitter.
