Spectre Release Date, Trailer for Next James Bond film, Sam Smith Theme Song

By Mark Rollins

It has been three years since Daniel Craig has portrayed the legendary British Secret Service Agent James Bond. After Skyfall, director Sam Mendes again leads the reigns of Spectre, the next chapter in the life of the rebooted James Bond franchise. This is what we know about Spectre, including the Release Date, Trailer, and the new Sam Smith theme song.

About a year ago, a poster for Spectre surfaced that did not reveal anything of the film but a bullet hole on a black background. As it turns out, the shape of the hole was important as it appears to be an octopus, which is the symbol of SPECTRE. For those that aren't aware of James Bond's massive history with over 24 films, SPECTRE is a villainous organization that stands for Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge, and Extortion.

According to the film's imdb page, the next James Bond film begins as 007 discovers a cryptic message that sends him on a trail to uncover this sinister organization. Digital Trends states that Bond's mission will have him uncover secrets in MI6, and he will have to protect itself from threats both external and internal, untangling a web of espionage in what is certain to be an intriguing action thrill ride.

Along for this ride is Ralph Fiennes, who was introduced as the new M in the last film. The new Moneypenny, Naomie Harris, will also be showing up, as well as the new Q with Ben Whishaw. Other stars include Monica Bellucci, Stephanie Sigman, Lea Seydoux, and Dave Bautista. There is strong evidence from the trailer suggesting that Christoph Waltz could be playing the famous James Bond villain Blofeld, but that has yet to be revealed officially.

The trailer reveals certain aspects as it looks like Bond has gone rouge, possibly. There certainly is a lot of practical stunts here, along with scenes of a helicopter and an airplane. Of course, it is not just action that has propelled the James Bond franchise for over 50 years. In spite of being rebooted when Craig took over the role in Casino Royale, the mystery of James Bond has not really been officially revealed. It looked like Skyfall was going to probe into the agent's past when Bond visited his parents' estate, and it is possible that Spectre could give us more insight with Bond.

Not only is there going to be a lot of action, when the film opens on November 6th, 2015, but the James Bond theme has been revealed. Sam Smith and Jimmy Napes, a Grammy Award winning songwriting team have revealed the theme with "Writing's on the Wall". Rolling Stone describes this theme as a sumptuous ballad for Smith's gorgeous falsetto than an orchestral soar of past theme songs. Smith tweeted a black-and-white photo of himself wearing a ring, and this ring had the octopus symbol of Spectre on it.
