Any time that there is a new Star Wars game coming out, you can expect the hype to be high. In the case of Star Wars Battlefront for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One, it is easily the most highly-anticipated games of the year. Microsoft has recently confirmed that Star Wars Battlefront will be available early for certain Xbox One players on EA Access. There is also news that the first downloadable content "Battle of Jakku" will be available early for those who pre-order.
The game was originally titled Star Wars Battlefront 3. Apparently, the game was going to be released shortly after Battlefront II, which was over 10 years ago, but that project was scrapped. The fact that it is just called plain Star Wars Battlefront means that it is a complete reboot in every sense of the word.
Star Wars Battlefront puts the players in the most iconic battles from the films with 12 locations featuring five locations within the Star Wars universe like Hoth, Tatooine, Endor, Sullust, and Jakku. The player can be a soldier taking out adversaries, or can even switch to iconic characters like Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, and Boba Fett.
In addition to playing as a single character, there are also aerial battles as well. What might disappoint some Star Wars fans is that players will not have the opportunity to take their flying vehicles into space, nor any battles from the Prequel trilogy (Episodes 1-3). However, the multiplayer environments are very huge, which means 40 players can play on a single online game.
The game is definitely timed to be released just one month before the release date of the seventh official Star Wars movie, The Force Awakens. In fact, the first DLC (downloadable content) for the game will be "Battle of Jakku", and it is meant to bridge the gap between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, according to IGN. This battle takes place one year after the events of Return of the Jedi, and it allows the player to see the wasteland seen so prominently in The Force Awakens trailer. The DLC will be available on December 8th for free, and pre-ordering Star Wars Battlefront unlocks the Jakku planet a week early, on December 1st.
According to Gotta Be Mobile, Microsoft confirmed with a tweet that Star Wars Battlefront will be available to play early for Xbox One users. This is provided that they have an EA Access account, but it will be available to play on November 12th. EA Access is only available for the Xbox One, as Sony didn't bring it to the PS4 console. As for those who want Star Wars Battlefront on the PC or the PS4, you will have to wait until November 17, 2015.
