Golden State Warriors point Stephen Curry is now in the discussion of becoming the GOAT (Greatest of All Time) after he achieved the first unanimous MVP award in NBA history. Currently, he is the best in the league in terms of shooting with 30.1 points per game. However, many are talking about his terrific basketball talent, but there are only a few that mentioned his Christian faith.
In an article from Decision Magazine, Curry talked about his relationship with Christ. At the age of 13, Curry accepted Christ as his Lord and personal Savior. He described it as a big decision in his life that even his parents couldn't make for him.
Furthermore, the 28-year old Warriors guard said he is playing for "something different."
"I just hope by the way I carry myself and by the way I play the game, they can see there's something different about that guy. And they find out what it is and then they know. It's part of who I am," Curry said in an interview with Joshua Cooley in the May/June FCA Magazine, the publication of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
By just watching Curry's basketball games, one can notice his habit of pointing upward after making a shot. He said the gesture is a way of thanking "the Man who died for our sins on the cross."
In his fifth pro season in the NBA, Curry has achieved many things. He made record-breaking shots, scored buzzer beaters and set NBA records. This 2016 Season, Curry set an NBA record of 402 3-pointers to beat his past record of 286 last season. Not only that, he also helped the Warriors team to achieve the 73-9 win-loss record, eclipsing the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls' 72-10 record as the most winning regular season in NBA history.
Earlier this month, he became the NBA's first unanimous Most Valuable Player, winning the award for the second time. According to ESPN, Curry got all of the 131 first-place votes from a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters in the league. Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard was second place in the voting, and Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James landed on the third spot.
Now, Curry and the Golden State Warriors aim to grab the Western Conference title to advance to the 2016 NBA Finals. Their best-of-seven series against Oklahoma City Thunders is now tied at 1-1. During the Second game on Wednesday, Curry fired off 15 straight points to gain a huge advantage against the Thunders. Yahoo Sports published Curry is now preparing for another bruising encounter in Game Three.
The Game three between Golden State Warriors and Oklahoma City Thunders will happen on Monday, 23 May at 8:00PM ET. The game will be aired live on TNT.
