Earlier this week, the Golden State Warriors released a statement regarding the status of Stephen Curry after suffering a knee injury during Game 4 against the Houston Rockets. Based on the statement, it seems Curry might not be able to play with the Warriors for the entire second round of the playoffs.

The on-court accident occurred during the second half of Game Four between the Warriors and Rockets. As Curry was playing defense, he slipped on a wet portion of the court which then caused his right knee to turn out. For a few seconds, Curry rolled on the floor while clutching his knee. It can be clearly seen from the replay that he was hurting.

Because of the incident, Curry was not able to return for the second half. Still, despite his absence, the Warriors was still able to sweep the series against the Rockets by securing a 121-94 win.

After the game, Golden State announced that the athlete has been diagnosed with a sprained right medial collateral ligament or MCL.

"Warriors guard Stephen Curry underwent an MRI this morning that revealed a Grade 1 MCL sprain in his right knee," the NBA team tweeted. "He will be re-evaluated in two weeks."

"Curry suffered the injury on the last play of the first half of Game 4 last night at Houston and was diagnosed with a sprained right knee by the team's medical staff on site," the Warriors continued.

The key phrase in the Warriors statement is "two weeks." This means that Curry will only get to know whether he can play or not two weeks for now, which indicates he might not be able to re-join the Warriors for the entire second round.

Also, as noted by Yahoo Sports, Curry's injury, a Grade 1 MCL, is considered as a minor one because even though there's slight damage to the ligaments, they are not torn and the condition does not require surgery. These translate to a faster recovery for Curry.

But, this also doesn't mean that his injury is not at all complicated. After all, during the first round, he missed Game 2 and 3 due to an ankle injury from Game 1. Although his current injury appears to be the result of a slip, the instability in his ankle might have contributed to his fall.

Of course, these are just speculations and should not be regarded as an official diagnosis of Curry's current condition.
