Right now, it's too early to tell which teams will battle it out at Super Bowl 51 next year and it's even bolder to say that the Oakland Raiders could end up bringing home this season's championship title. But, based on the team's playing style and performance, they might be able to edge out their potential opponent, which, right now, could be the Dallas Cowboys.
Since Week 2, after breakout star quarterback Dak Prescott was able to find his groove on the field, the Cowboys have shown that they are the team to beat this year. Following their loss at Week 1, the Dallas team went on a dominating path filled with consecutive victories.
However, this all changed in Week 14 when they took on the New York Giants, the same team that dealt their Week 1 loss. At the hands of the Giants defense, the Cowboys offense crumbled, which then led to their second loss of the season.
But, if the Dallas team manages to bounce back from this surprising loss, which is by either regaining their confidence on the field or by replacing Prescott with Tony Romo, then the Cowboys could still make an appearance at the 2017 Super Bowl.
Similarly, if the Raiders continue to win games and edge out the AFC top contender New England Patriots, the team could also make it to the finals.
As revealed by the Giants at Week 14, the weakness of the Cowboys lies in the defensive layout of their opponent, CBS Sports reported. Sure, the team has strong guys running its offense, but against a team that has a superior defensive line, the Cowboys would crumble.
This is an important aspect that the Raiders can easily take advantage off. Unlike the Patriots, the Raiders have a stronger defense, which is why they are expected to take the AFC title, according to Pace Chronicle. But, at the Super Bowl against the Cowboys, the Oakland franchise can utilize this same strength to ultimately win the championship title.
Aside from their defense, the team's offense is also pretty strong especially given the way Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree have been playing consistently all season long. This makes the Raiders a very dangerous team especially at the Super Bowl.
