The game starts on Sunday, February 7 at 6:30 PM ET on CBS. That means that it takes place at 3:30 PM at its location of Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The game will be called by Jim Nantz, Phil Simms, and Tracy Wolfson, and The NFL Today hosts James Brown, Tony Gonzalez, Bill Cowher, Bart Scott, and Boomer Esiason will be counting down to the kickoff.
According to the International Business Times, the network plans to air its Super Bowl 50 pre-game coverage on Sunday morning at 11 AM ET ahead of the kickoff. The pre-game event is going to be as big as the game itself.
The CBS broadcast will start with a short documentary style, one-hour program from NFL Films called Super Bowl 50: Before They Were Pros. The show will feature famous NFL current and former stars sharing with players how football changed their lives.
At 12 PM ET will be Road to the Super Bowl, which will be a full retrospective profile of the 2015 season and how the Panthers and Broncos reached the title game. Phil Simms All-Iron Team: Super Bowl Edition will then be broadcast at 1 PM ET.
From 2-6 PM ET will be The Super Bowl Today. Gayle King, CBS This Morning co-host and reporter will interview President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. This interview will begin at 2 PM ET, and even though the presidential sit down is a tradition before the game begins, including the First Lady is something new that perhaps the next president will attempt.
Then from 6-6:30 PM ET is the Super Bowl on CBS Kick-off Show, followed by the official start of the game at 6:30 PM ET. The one and only Lady Gaga will be performing the national anthem, with a special appearance of Marlee Matlin performing the anthem in sign language for the hearing impaired. The halftime entertainment will be Coldplay along with Beyonce. As always, there will be a lot of great commercials, and since this is the 50th game, expect some 50th-anniversary surprises.
