It was in 2015 that Samsung introduced the Galaxy S6 edge plus, and now that the smartphone is fast approaching its second birthday, it is nice to see how T-Mobile has finally put forward the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge plus. Actually, this particular Android 7.0 Nougat update is long overdue, being three weeks late due to T-Mobile’s delay. Better late than never, and it is nice to see how the Android 7.0 Nougat update will bring with it a slew of features that have been working on the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge for some time already. T-Mobile’s support page for the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge plus does point to the latest update as well as the benefits that come with it.

T-Mobile failed to provide an updated changelog for the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge plus, and neither is there documentation of any kind that point to what the latest Nougat update is all about. Hence, apart from the regular features that many have come to know and love concerning Android 7.0 Nougat, it remains to be seen whether T-Mobile had taken the initiative to implement any additional features or functions. What we do know, however, is that this update will usher the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge plus’ software version to hit G928TUVUEQC6. For those who are too lazy to wait for an Over The Air (OTA) distribution of the Android 7.0 Nougat update, there is always the option to do so manually.

If you own the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge plus from T-Mobile and would like to perform a manual check on your device, then you will first need to head to ‘System Updates’ that is located under the ‘About Device’ tab in the device’s settings. If a new update is available, then you will be able to perform a download. Those who have already updated their Galaxy S6 edge plus to Android 7.0 Nougat will be able to enjoyed an improved user interface with multi-tasking capability, quick switching between apps that ought to help improve productivity, new notification shade-related features which provides additional yet crucial information compared to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and better Doze functionality, among others.

It is no surprise at all that Android 7.0 Nougat is so much better compared to what its predecessor, Android 6.0 Marshmallow, delivers, although Google did not change the entire mobile operating system from ground up but worked on optimizing the Marshmallow experience while introducing new features.

Despite being close to a couple of years old already, the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge plus makes for a decent device to carry around even today. With a massive 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED display, it is still a beauty to behold, sporting 4GB of RAM and a choice of either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage. Samsung’s very own octa-core Exynos 7420 64-bit processor will run proceedings from underneath the hood, accompanied by a 3,000mAh battery, 16-megapixel OIS shooter at the back with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfie lovers. Other Galaxy S6 edge plus devices (including those in Europe) picked up the Android 7.0 Nougat update some time ago, and T-Mobile certainly took their time in providing access of their units to Nougat. So far, there has been no complaints about how the Android 7.0 Nougat update runs or performs on the Galaxy S6 edge plus, which leaving us with a bunch of happy campers.

It is safe to assume that the Galaxy S6 edge plus has approximately one more year to go before one would consider a smartphone upgrade to a newer device.
