Better late than never, as we did report that the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge would be on the receiving end of the Android 7.0 Nougat update before the month of January 2017 is over. It is all good and well then that T-Mobile’s Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge owners are now able to enjoy the stable Android 7.0 Nougat version on their respective handsets, with those who were enrolled in the Galaxy Beta Program (which is a soak test of sorts) before picking up this update first, although other owners of the respective smartphones will surely be picking theirs up a wee bit later.
This particular update is not too hefty at all, tipping the scales at a mere 117MB which should not be too much of an issue for an Over The Air (OTA) download. With the sheer amount of data that mobile carriers offer these days, you are able to download this Android 7.0 Nougat update without having to look around for a WiFi hotspot. We are also pleased to announce that this particular update will be accompanied by the February security patch for added peace of mind. For those who did not enrol with the Galaxy Beta Program, however, it would be best to download the Android 7.0 Nougat update over a WiFi connection since that version of the update will be far larger in size -- exceeding 1GB by all probability.
In the latest changelog of the update, it does point to features that many people would expect, including better Notification features, alterations to the Settings menu, in addition to Multi window improvements. These are not exhaustive, so do expect a fair number of other changes introduced, not to mention helping your Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge function in a smoother manner thanks to underlying performance improvements.
Those who have participated in the in the Galaxy Beta Program and would like to pick up the latest update, doing so is simple. All that you have to do is check out Settings > Software Update > Software Manual Download and voila -- you are good to go to download it directly onto your smartphone. We do hope that the other users who did not manage to enrol in the Galaxy Beta Program will not have to wait for much longer.
From what we do know, however, February 20 would be when all Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge owners will be able to obtain the update officially as long as their respective devices meet all of the relevant update requirements as showcased in T-Mobile’s support page.
From what we have heard on the ground, even non-Beta program owners of both handsets are now able to receive the update, too, which is definitely good news. At least there is no disparity between both parties, and this goes to show how T-Mobile knows how to keep their customers happy.
