Taylor Swift Grants Wish of Ailing Australian Girl Going Deaf to Meet and Hear Shake It Off Singer Sing

Taylor Swift has once again reminded her legions of fans and followers of her generosity and kindness. In yet another act of compassion, the Shake It Off singer went out of her way to ensure that the wish of one of her fans, Jorja Hope, is granted. Needless to say, the act provided great joy to Jorji and heightened her admiration for the Bad Blood star.

Jorja is a 12-year-old girl who is diagnosed to have a condition that would result in a progressive hearing loss. She was born prematurely, spending weeks in the neonatal intensive care unit of the hospital. Medical experts also provided her with two sets of grommets for her ears to ease her condition. However, none of the proposed solutions cured the sickness.

According to her doctors, Jorja will gradually lose her sense of sound soon. At the moment, Jorja already lost 45 decibels of her hearing. Hence, she is now using a hearing aid to help her with her everyday activities.

Her mother, Melissa, shared that the first thing Jorja said following the news of her hearing loss is the fact that she will no longer be able to hear Swift sing. This sentiment was taken by her twin sister, Chloe, as an inspiration to launch an online campaign for her ill sister. Chloe took it upon herself to urge netizens to help her sister achieve her dream: to meet the one and only Taylor Swift.

"My inspiration, my sister is going deaf, and her one wish is to meet Taylor Swift in Sydney 2015," said Chloe on the campaign's official Facebook page. "Let's get this viral so Taylor Swift notices! Love, Chloe." The page, which currently has more than 4,000 likes, was aptly titled "Help Jorja meet Taylor Swift in Sydney 2015."

The online campaign succeeded and Jorja came face to face with her idol on Saturday.

"She was very, very amazing and very pretty," said Jorja, referring to her experience of meeting the Blank Space singer, according to the Maitland Mercury. "I didn't expect her to be as tall as she was. It was very, very fun, we danced all night."

Melissa, the twins' mom, remains in awe at the golden opportunity her child received. She shared how surreal the experience was for her family via US Weekly. She said, "Things like this happen to other people, not to people like us. It's been a fairy tale."

"Jorja has battled her whole life from being born preemie with growth problems, to surgeries on her ears already and five surgeries for broken bones. She is a fighter. No matter what happens, she smiles and keeps going," Melissa shared.
