Although Joey Martin Feek is extremely weakened from dealing with the last stages of cervical cancer, it was still a pleasant weekend for her and husband Rory Feek of country music duo Joey + Rory, because she was able to get out of bed and interact with their daughter, Indiana.
Rory on Facebook Friday shared: "It's 60 (degrees) and sunny outside today and even brighter inside...Joey's out of bed teaching signs to Indy on the floor."
In a photo that accompanied his post, which is still providing hope and inspiration to so many people, Joey is showing a flash card with a picture of a tiger to Indiana so she can learn her animal names. To date, the photo has attracted nearly 480,000 likes, almost 32,000 shares and 29,000-plus comments. In fact, his photo got 217,000 likes within the first hour of his posting it.
Joey, 40, was diagnosed with cancer in 2014, and her husband since has been documenting their journey on social media and their website.
Facebook fan and supporter Eileen Drake Stanley stated: "Thank you Jesus for a good day for Joey. May she have many more to come. Complete healing is my prayer for her and her beautiful family."
Last week, the couple expressed their hope that Joey will continue to feel well throughout the month of February to enjoy their album release, their daughter's birthday and what could turn into a very special Grammy telecast. Earlier this month, the Feeks discovered they received their first Grammy Award nomination for best country duo/group performance for their song, "If I Needed You."
Another Facebook supporter Barb DeLong offered this weekend: "Praise God! That smile on Joey's face makes everything a whole lot brighter on the inside as well as outside! Joey, you look so beautiful as always! So happy to see you out of bed playing with Indy and seeing that smile on her face is priceless! Love you all so very much! God is Good all the time!"
